Our mind is like a canvas. Now and then, colors are applied to that canvas. The colors are different moods and emotions, like love, happiness, hatred, anger, sadness, etc. These colors come without any prior information. The painter who makes the portraits on the canvas is none other than the atmosphere itself, which changes continuously. Every day, we are constantly exposed to different facts and the colors depend on the way we comprehend each fact. The happiness comes out of our mouths in the form of a smile; the sadness melts and comes out of our minds in the form of tears. The Indian Ragas are so scientifically created that they can change the atmosphere around us. They can change the moods of the "painter." if we look into them deeply, we will find that each Raga represents a different feeling or emotion. The ragas are our heritage. They lay a soothing effect on our minds and souls. I am doing a Diploma in Classical music along with CBSE. I have noticed that at different emotions, the raga pertaining to it automatically comes into my mind. This is like the "magic" of Indian classical music and it is a treasure of our country. The ragas are related to nature. They have originated from human feelings.
The sweet notes of Ragas Maalkosh, Bhimpalasi, Kedar, Desh, Darbari Kanada fills our mind with happiness Whenever I hear those ragas, my mind automatically gets filled with joy and happiness. But on the other hand, the notes of Ragas Jaunpuri, Pilu, Charukeshi, etc induce a feeling of sadness Raga Kalingada brings a soft feeling of anger Ragas Miyamalhar, Meghmalhar and Gaurmalhar make our mind calm and spread calmness in the atmosphere. They represent the calmness of rain. Many legends are associated with such ragas. Ragas Sohini, Marwa, Poorvi, Paraj, Shree induces a soft feeling of dilemma. The warmth of Raga Deepak symbolizes confidence and optimism. In earlier times, the ragas were the feelings of the characters.
Desh is used in the films to represent Apart from emotions, the tune of the ragas also reflects time The soft and sweet notes of Bhairav and Bhairavi represent the morning. Raga Bhimpalasi, Alhaiya Bilawal, represents the energy and agility of the daytime. Raga Marwa, Bihaag Desh represents the softness of the night. Our precious ragas throw light on every aspect of the celebration.
The Ragas can reflect various emotions. But it sounds very unpleasant that people are gradually losing interest in this wonderful heritage. People should also give importance to Indian Classical music apart from western classical music. They are the apt medium for celebration. They have the power to add beautiful colors to our lives.
